You can put avocados on your salad, but did you know that you can also put them on your face?
Avocados are full of vitamin A that helps reduce wrinkles. It also contains vitamins E and C that protect the skin against free radicals. The fresh of fruit is nourishing, and can penetrate deep into the dermis, moistening and softening your skin.
Additional Mask Ingredients
There are many different ingredients that you can add to your avocado to make the perfect mask for your skin.
Honey. Antibacterial, antimicrobial, moisturizing – honey does it all.
Oats. Oats can be exfoliating, but they also remove excess oil, relieve itching and moisturize.
Milk or yogurt. Dairy is a natural exfoliator, and can help soften and tone the skin. The lactic acid in yogurt will also kill bacteria and help clear up acne.
Lemon. The acidity in lemon can help heal pimples and reduce scarring.
Egg whites. The whites can help shrink pores and reduce oil.
Banana. A mashed up banana offers hydration, protection against free radicals and fights acne.
Olive oil. Olive oil is extremely moisturizing. It also helps remove makeup and helps fight aging.
Avocado Mask Recipes
If you’re ready to jump in, you can mash up an avocado and use it alone, make up your own concoction using the above ingredients, or try one of the recipes below.
#1 Avocado and Honey Mask. This mask is a great way to naturally moisturize. Mash a ripe avocado and mix a tablespoon of honey and smear on your face. Let the mixture sit for 10-15 minutes and wash off with warm water.
#2 Oatmeal Avocado Mask. Moisturizing, repairing and exfoliating. Mix half an avocado with a half a cup of cooked oatmeal. Apply the mixture and let it for 10-15 minutes before washing it off with warm water.
#3 Avocado and Yogurt Mask. This mask is great for acne-prone skin. Mix a quarter of a ripe avocado and mix in one teaspoon to one tablespoon of yogurt.
#4 Avocado, Banana and Egg Mask. Mix ripe avocado with ½ a ripe banana and egg whites. Mix it all together and apply to your face.
